Pictures!
penelope and marie-pier made poutine :)
mania, goddess of insanity...which is pretty much her norm anyways.
our pretty park :)
scary haunted barn!
we are a tight-knit group...but we are all brothers and sisters!
this is not what it appears to be.
katima-baby!
toga partyyyy
halloween
so obviously you know which pumpkin is mine....
faillllllll
so obviously I haven't been writing every day but I'm not sure anyone reads this anyway so it's okay. I do want to keep track of everything we do somehow but we do so much it's almost impossible...
today we went to the park and did some co-operative games and talked about where we're at in the group and how we're feeling etc. so that was good. it's so weird having two lives; one here and one back home. tonight we have KCC (Katimavik coordination council) where we plan our schedule and talk about problems and stuff. it usually lasts about 3 hours. I'm the secretary so I have to pay attention... at least I've had experience with that kind of meeting though (peace camps)
last night my uncle Dwight came to visit! which coincided with our Greek toga party. we all picked goddess/god names for ourselves and we had to dress and act like that person. mine was Antheia, goddess of flowers and floral wreaths. we ate homemade pitas with chicken and salad and tzaziki (sp?) and then we had....OLYMPICS! my team was called the omega-pwns...but we came in third. which is best because the number is bigger obviously...one of the games involved 'running' on your knees which ended up with bloody knees and the neighbours coming over to tell us to be quiet. it was only 8pm on a friday though....oh and Matt dyed my hair! for a color blind guy who has never done that before he did a pretty good job :) (though it took quite a while haha)
work is okay (I work at a thrift store) but it gets frustrating because the people I work with only give me negative feedback. next week we have our midterm meetings though so Alicia and I will bring that up with them. some of the customers are rude and/or creepy as well but at least I get first dibs on clothes....
on thursday we went over to Darcy and Jason's house. they are going to be a billet family but we don't know who is going to live with them. they have a tiny baby named ethan and I got to hold him and he didn't cry :) we watched Bon Cop Bad Cop which I would recommend if you want to learn how to swear in french.
Tuesday night I volunteered with Travis, Kahleigh and Julika at a church dinner. mostly we just chatted and ate and cleaned up though. there was a raffle and Julika won a huge painting which we arent quite sure what to do with but she loves it haha. people here seem to really like katimavik and they honk at us all the time.
Monday night we had a workshop (sharing session) on ADHD/LDs. It was interesting because we got to simulate what it's like to have a writing and reading LD. we had to write out a paragraph in 1 minute with our left hand (or right if you're left handed). it was really frustrating. then we had a volunteer (Allan) try to read a paragraph without pronouncing the N's in all the words so it was really slow and then he had to answer questions but since we were all focused on how slow it was we didn't get any info out of it. I think it would have been helpful to do a simulation of ADHD though because it would be more relevant to our group.
Next weekend we are going to London for our free block. I'm planning on meeting up with Brian and a few others have friends there as well. it'll be nice to get out of our tiny town and maybe do some shopping or something. we are also planning to go to toronto and niagra falls as a group but the excursion protocol is ridiculous
there's so much more to say but I'm tired of typing to I will make another post with pictures instead.
